| Customer Reviews: Cut out 77% of your energy usage for lights! March 22, 2007 Rex (Idaho) 18 out of 29 found this review helpful
I used these bulbs in a dimmable chandelier. The chandelier used to burn 500W total, now it burns only 115W. It also appears to me to be a brighter light.
Replacing your standard incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents, even if only in the lights you use the most often, will save you a bunch on your electric bill, not to mention using less energy means less power plants, less burning of coal, which helps the planet and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
work ok, but buzz and don't dim far enough October 20, 2007 Jeff Lindborg (Seattle, WA United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Picked up the 15w and 23w version of these bulbs as well as the GE offering for dimmable can light replacement bulb.
These 15w bulb work ok, but they don't dim much further than about %50 bright - more problematice for me is they buzz when dimmed - at full power they're fine. For me this is a deal breaker since it's my office I have them in and I'm pretty sensitive to the buzzing - it's not horrible but it's noticable. To be fair the GE bulbs (considerably more expensive) also buzzed to a degree, although it was somewhat quieter. All only dimmed to around the half way point give or take - which isn't a big deal for me, but the buzzing was.
The light comes on pretty quick and the 15 watt lights are to my liking for brightness at full power - they're softer than I expected so I'm just going to leave them in at full power. I give it a 3 since as a dimmable bulb (which is presumably what folks are interested in) they fall a bit short but I'll continue using them at full power and they're fine.
Waste of money - Premature bulb failure April 26, 2010 Jeff Johnson (Philadelphia, PA USA) Waste of good money. In less than nine months three of these bulbs already died. We used them for a couple of hours in the evening during the week and a bit longer on weekends. They didn't come close to the thousands of hours advertised.
