Made by prestigious German company Fissler (founded in 1845 and still family owned), Intensa has won numerous international awards and employs the latest technology to deliver top cooking performance. Plus, the handsome conical-shaped pieces are stackable, versatile, and backed by a lifetime warranty against defects, so they're perfect for regular use in the most demanding of home kitchens. This 4-quart casserole is sized a bit lower than the stew pot and works especially well for browning and stewing larger portions of food. The construction is polished 18/10 stainless steel with a matte interior for even heat distribution and scratch- and corrosion-resistance. Adding energy efficiency and heat retention, the base holds an extra-thick 6mm aluminum core and has a slightly concave shape with expansion joints so that it sits perfectly flat on any burner when hot. Want something to top that? Well, the lid has a few tricks of its own. It features Fissler's ThermoStar temperature indicator that changes color for at-a-glance reading, a pouring rim that allows liquids to be drained or held back with a simple 90-degree twist, and its own holder in the side handle that drips all condensation right back into the pot. Stay-cool melamine keeps the handles comfortable in high heats, and a convenient measuring scale is imprinted on the inner wall.
