Product Description "Josh Dorfmans perspective is a leading voice for anyone involved in new consumer-based environmentalism.Tom Arnold, TerraPass
We cant all camp out in old-growth forests, lying down in front of the bulldozers. And its not only that were too busy: Some of us just dont want our fabulous threads to get caked with mud.
But that doesnt mean we dont care passionately about the environment. Luckily, the days when becoming environmentally aware entailed eating bread that tasted like dirt, wearing clothes that looked like frayed burlap sacks, and spending summer vacations assailing whaling ships with Greenpeace are passing away. It is now perfectly possible (and increasingly easy) to be well fed, well coiffed, well dressed, and well traveled while remaining deeply committed to an ecologically sustainable lifestyle.
In The Lazy Environmentalist, Josh Dorfmanhost of the Sirius Satellite Radio program of the same nameprovides comprehensive guidance to fashion-forward consumers who are as concerned about the long-term health of our planet as they are about the design of their bathroom fixtures. Covering topics that range from clothing to electronic gadgetry, home decor to recreation, and gardening to financial investment, Dorfman lets us know which trends to watch and which eco-conscious productscars, toothbrushes, cell phones, pet accessoriesto buy. Green, it turns out, can be an extremely stylish color.
"Every day most of us have to choose between products that either look the same or do the same thing. So why not buy the product that causes the least harm to the planet? The Lazy Environmentalist is a useful guide toward making the right decisions." - Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner, Patagonia, Inc.
"Everything you always wanted to know about greener living but were afraid to spend the rest of your life researching. Here's a great start." - Chris Paine, writer and director, Who Killed the Electric Car?
Instead of thinking about it ... DO IT. Buy this amazing book and get the scoop on products and ways to take care of this great planet. Become part of the movement that is loving the earth the way it truly deserves to be cared for! -Mariel Hemingway, actress and author of Healthy Living from the Inside Out

Comprehensive resource guide August 2, 2007 FA Reader (CVG) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Josh Dorfman, radio personality and engaging author, has put together a very uptodate and comprehensive guide for people who want to make serious changes in their comsumption, whether large or small.
I'm considering whether to buy or build a new home, and resources for 'green' remodeling and 'green' building, as well as 'green' pre-fab are here. Chapters are short, not usually more than 7 or 8 pages, and begin with narrative. At the end of each piece of commentary are the resources he mentions, complete with a reminder of the company or service provider, as well as all pertinent contact information. There are chapters that address almost every facet of our lives, from carpeting and paint, to bedding and toilets.
Dorfman make being lazy, "heavenly". He opens the door for us so that going green isn't as intimidating as it may seem. We aren't lost by crazy industry-specific lingo. He explains terms well in simple definitions and allows us to see that even in green circles, there isn't a 'secret handshake' sort of clique.
This book is essential for people who are interested in making a difference, but just aren't sure where to begin.
Great Affordable and Easy to Use Resource! May 15, 2007 Barbara Dornbush (Atlanta, GA United States) 14 out of 17 found this review helpful
I think anyone who is the least bit interested in being environmentally friendy would want to have this affordable and easy to use book on their bookshelves. I have been immersed professionally in sustainable furnishings for years and it contains eco-friendly furniture sources that I was not aware of! It lists, with brief descriptions, stylish, eco-friendly options for a wide range of purchases ranging from clothes to travel.
Father of a two year old.... June 12, 2007 Stan Horowitz (NYC) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Having a two year old, I really appreciate the chapter on babies and kids. The book lists a ton of really good resources for parents who want to raise environmentally conscious and healthy kids but feel the urge to dress their kids in something other than burlap sacks and cloth diapers.
I love being green and easy :) June 24, 2007 Francie B. Wood (MD) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful

What a valuable reference June 27, 2007 Peter J. Brofman (Fort Mill, SC USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is great, and the title is right on. Instead of all the doom and gloom out there about the environment, this book simply informs you of the easy ways to help diminish our impact on the environment without changing your lifestyle. I have already switched to 100% methane source for my electricity and bought a scooter getting 80MPG, thanks to this book. Well done, Mr. Dorfman!
