Greening the Cleaning... April 11, 2007 K. Bennett (USA) 86 out of 121 found this review helpful
Deirdre Imus has done so much to help the environment by providing products for a cleaner, greener earth and this book is excellent! I admire her for giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the ranch to benefit kids with cancer. I hope that Volume 2 will come out in the future. The price of the book is very reasonable. And it's easy to read and to refer to... I have used several suggestions in the book and the Greening the Cleaning cleaner to get red koolaid off my cabinet and it worked so well. She gives lists of helpful websites to go to for additional information. Keep your head up, Deirdre, and continue what you're doing to help make things better for children and for the environment. You have my respect and admiration as always.
MY ALLERGIES THANK YOU April 10, 2007 Pamela D. Blair (Hawthorne, NY) 67 out of 95 found this review helpful
As a woman with mid-life onset allergies to a host of things, including harsh cleaning products, I am delighted with this book. And I'm concerned not just for myself but for the harm that chemicals are doing to mother earth as well so I really appreciated the research and information the book provides. I'm going to recommend it to my clients and friends who have the same personal and global concerns. Pamela D. Blair, Author The Next Fifty Years: A Guide for Women at Mid-Life And Beyond
Green Your Lives and Live Healthy and Longer!!!1 October 5, 2007 Sylviastel (Sayreville, NJ) 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
Deirdre Coleman Imus is married to sharp-tongued fired radio broadcaster, Don Imus. She is the mother of Frederick Wyatt Imus better known as Wyatt. Mrs. Imus has done her homework. She was an aspiring actress before meeting Don Imus and she has turned his whole world around for the better. With her in his life, they have created and built a working cattle ranch for children with cancer, siblings of SIDS, and other diseases. While the children only get to spend a week, the Imuses go the extra mile when they hear of a child's loss from cancer by attending their funerals. Deirdre and Don are truly genuine people and this book came out at the worst time. The proceeds from this book benefit charities and not the pockets of the Imuses. This book is her promotion of household cleaning products because they contain cancer-causing effects. Deirdre started this greening craze when she learned that hospitals used toxic products for cleaning materials. Her idea morphed into something far beyond our imaginations because she has developed with the assistance of others in the field to use non-toxic and healthier products for us to clean our homes. The Imuses practice what they preach. They are vegeterians and use the products in their own home. Unfortunately, her husband's spoken phrase got him fired at a time when they raising money for children's charities including cancer, the CJ Foundation for kids with SIDS, and another charity in a radiothon. The Imuses have paid dearly but they still enjoy their lives in New Mexico and New York City. Deirdre Imus is no trophy wife. She might be younger and more beautiful but she has always spoken her mind with Don and everybody else. Buy this book, maybe it will help clean up your life and home for the better.
One of the better green cleaning books on the market April 29, 2007 Kenneth Robinson (USA) 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
When I picked this volume up I was expecting it to be a light weight celebrity book. I was wrong. There are a number of books about green cleaning. Inevitably there will a fair bit of content overlap. Still, the specific cleaning content is quite good as compared to other books of this type. The main virtue of this book is that it goes into far more depth than most about the health effects of toxic cleaning agents (especially as regards to children). Yes, this book is "preachy", but I find nothing wrong with advocacy about such an important topic. Far more needs to be done in making green cleaning and the health of effects of toxic chemicals a public policy issue and to mainstream environmentally sound and healthful products into the market place. This may be a celebrity book, but it is a good one.

Excellent! This is written in a personal-plain-english language that can be easily understood by any caring person. Deirdre Imus loves people and makes the point that exotic harsh chemicals really aren't necessary. Her own line of products shares this same, "bottom up" pure morality. Our cleaning products should CLEAN without POISONING. A MUST READ for anyone who wants to be up-to-date on the "here and now." This book is timely and important.
