5 out of 5 stars After 1 year Works great!   December 23, 2004

After reading some of the reviews here I had to post and say what a great product this is. I tried several other openers and found them lacking in quality and design. However this one has both! The only knock I would have is that the directions on mounting are somewhat unclear as one gentlemen found out when he went to mount it. You need to make sure that the handle has enough room to operate, you just cant slap it in under your cabinet, it needs to be near the front edge, as close as possible. They also provide spacers to level it off. It has been very sturdy, and without problems. One other thing I did notice is that placing the can in the opener was a little different from what I was used to, I beleive this is because the way the can openr is able to hold the can, (so you don't have to) as it opens the can, which I thought was cool because you can start the can and get your bowl or whatever and come back and there is your open can hanging there. I have not tried this with anything large though, mostly soup and veggie cans. Besides for the price, this is a deal.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great After 4 Years   July 22, 2004

I've had this for 4 years and it's a fantastic kitchen tool. It has opened every size can & I have never once pulled out the manual opener. The installation was frustrating. It may be designed for different width cabinets. We used some wood shims (thin wood strips) inside the cabinet to attach with the mounting strip and it's very secure. Maybe you could try shims underneath the cabinet if clearance is your problem. Bottom line - frustrating installation, fantastic opener

5 out of 5 stars Why is there any other kind?   August 3, 2005

Counter top openers take up space and have to be moved every time you clean the counter. By suspending the opener, it's out of the way and is a lot less trouble in the long run.
Installation takes a little time and care plus it requires drilling holes all the way through the underside of a cabinet. So if you rent or move a lot, a counter top unit might be more practical for you. If you aren't handy with tools, this opener is such a good idea that it would be easily worth getting a friend or a professional to install it.
Until all cans come with some kind of self-opening lid, I'd recommend this unit as a superior design solution.

I REGISTERED AND RECEIVED THIS OPENER FOR MY WEDDING IN SEPTEMBER OF 2002. IT'S BEEN 11 MONTHS SINCE THEN AND IT STILL WORKS GREAT! NO PROBLEMS HERE!
